East Lake Real Estate | Yorba Linda | Coping With Your Economic Circumstances

November 1st, 2009

Fall is over half-way through and the holiday season is here. It’s hard to believe. Where does the time go? I think much of it is related to the hectic schedules we all maintin, consuming every hour of the day, and dealing with the economic strains that seem to have affected all in some ways.

In recent meetings and research I have come across some information that may be useful to those dealing with our current economy.

  1. Credit Repair GTS Credit Repair made a presentation to our office explaining the FICO credit rating syste, and more importantly, ways to fix a damaged score. I don’t know of anyone yet who has contracted with them, but they did make a compelling presentation. I’d be more than happy to forward this information to anyone interested.
  2. Job Hunting Strategies (from the Bottomline, September 2009 issue.
  3. Network for Leads Employers love to hire based on personal recommendations. Always keep expanding your network.
  4. Partner With Other Job Hunters Keep an eye out for opportunities for everyone in the group. Each one does the same for you. Build your group from those you know and also attend job fairs to meet similarly minded attendees.
  5. Knocking On Doors Unannounced Your timing may find an employer needing someone before word is out to the public. Small businesses, especially, appreciate this tried-and-true method and respect your go-getter attitude. As always with door knocking, rejection is high but it’s a numbers game. This strategy is likely to fall flat with larger corporations who are working within their own pre-defined hiring system. Mid-afternoon is an excellent time. Alongside this strategy is cold-calling employers of interest, keeping in mind the same numbers game applies. Always ask for referrals to anyone in the industry who may need your services. ABN (Always Be Networking). One of my past clients, who also became a good friend and golf partner, operates an executive placement firm here in Yorba Linda. If this sounds to be of interest to you, let me know and we will put you in touch.
  6. Loan Modification and Short Sale Now more than ever you need an expert on your side. We can provide you with the right valuable information to enable you toward making informed decisions. Every situation is different. You have choices and we want to help you make your best choices.
